Irish Dance Instructor

Karl Drake, ADCRG

Irish Dance instructor and adjudicator, certified with An Coimisiún Le Rinci Gaelacha, in Dublin Ireland. Director and Owner of the Drake School of Irish Dance in Atlanta, Georgia, with satellite locations in Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Hawaii, Mexico and China. Dance Master with over 30 years’ experience in Irish dance instruction, choreography, and adjudication.

Patricia Oxx

Patricia Oxx began her Irish dancing career in NJ at the early age of five.  She was trained by the renowned Peter Smith.  She moved from New Jersey to Florida in 1997 and the Tir Na Nog Academy of Irish Dance was founded shortly thereafter.  She instills this beautiful form of art and culture into the hearts of every student that she teaches.
The Tir Na Nog Academy of Irish Dance has amalgamated with the Naples School of Irish Dance and offers performance based instruction taught by Patricia Oxx, who has been teaching Irish dance in Naples, Florida for over 20 years.

Jesse Maki

Jesse Maki is a lead teacher, for both performance and competitive dance at the Naples School of Irish Dance. He has been dancing since 2014 when he joined The Drake School of Irish Dance at the age of 13. 

From 2019-2021, he danced for The Doherty Petri School of Irish dance, winning the Mid-Atlantic Oireachtas in 2019. 

His other placements include 3rd at the All Ireland’s, All Scotland’s, Great Britain’s and placing 7th at the World Championships. 

He is currently studying computer science at The University of Florida, Gainesville, and will graduate December 2023. 

Competitive Dance Teacher

D'Anna Maki

D’Anna Maki is one of our adjunct teachers at the Naples School of Irish Dance. Anna began her dance career at the age of four, and danced with Kellyn Celtic Arts, The Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota and then transferred to The Drake School of Irish Dance at the age of eight. 

Anna is our primary performance choreographer and teaches all levels of competitive dance. 

Currently she is placed 2nd in Southern Region, 6th in the nation and 38th in the world. She is a world qualifier and will be competing in Montreal at the World competition in 2023. 

She also attends Penn Foster School for Veterinary Science and is studying to be a Veterinary Technician.    

 

Julie Coon

My name is Julie Coon. I started dancing when I was 8 years old. I competed for over ten years under the Drake School and the Flanagan O’hare School of Irish Dance. As an open championships level dancer, I competed at multiple Oireachtas and National Championships. I have now retired from competing, but am excited to be teaching performance classes at the Naples School of Irish Dance. Aside from dance, I am currently in my third year at Florida Gulf Coast University studying Nursing.
